Rome’s best vintage markets.
If you’re in Rome on a Sunday and love vintage finds, you have to check out Porta Portese.
It’s a huge flea market in Trastevere, and it’s perfect for anyone who loves vintage items or just enjoys exploring.
I remember visiting the markets when I was little with my grandma, and I now enjoy strolling around, and possibly leave with great pieces. One of my favorite finds was a vintage suede jacket—it looked amazing and was such a steal. Another time, I got a pair of retro sunglasses that instantly made every outfit cooler. Oh, and a vintage watch that’s now my go-to for that “effortlessly chic” vibe.
The market has everything: old cameras, vinyl records, pre-loved clothes, quirky antiques, random home décor—you name it. You have to do a bit of digging, but that’s half the fun. The vendors are great, some will happily chat about where an item came from, while others will give you a cheeky grin as you haggle.
Here’s what you need to know before you go:
Go early. The best stuff gets snapped up fast. Plus, there is a lot of ground to cover.
Bring cash. Most stalls don’t take cards, and small bills make haggling easier.
Wear comfy shoes. The market is huge, and you’ll be walking a lot.
Even if you don’t buy anything (which is almost impossible), it’s such a fun way to spend a Sunday morning. You’ll soak up a bit of local life and might even leave with a story or two.
Location: Markets are located in Trastevere - corner of Via Federico Rosazza and Via Portuense is where I usually start, and head towards Piazza Ippolito Nievo.
Date and time: Sunday mornings from 7am to 2pm.
I truly hope you enjoyed this article! Leave a comment if you’re planning on going to Porta Portese!
